10 Things I Want to See Built on Flynet

Ben Leventhal

We have spent the last three years building Flynet around restaurant identity, payments, rewards and real-world activity. Blackbird is FlyNet's first application, and has been from day zero. In 2026 it will handle more than $100M of payments volume. Our goal isn't to keep Flynet for ourselves, so it is now open to third party developers. Builders can access a merchant network and platform that can power new, magical applications. Some we will build ourselves. Others hopefully come from you.

Here are 10 Flynet apps I'd like to exist in the world:

  1. 01

A dining agent that knows your taste.

Connect a member's consented Blackbird dining history to the agent they already use. Let it recommend the right restaurant, put the plan together, handle payment, and actually learn from the visit. Not just another search result.

  2. 02

A group-chat concierge that finishes the job.

Everyone in the group chat has different preferences, budgets, and schedules. Turn that into three real options, coordinate the decision and the booking, split the payment. The job isn't done until everyone is actually at dinner.

  3. 03

    A portable restaurant passport.

Let diners carry their membership and status across restaurants and apps. The member controls what gets shared, and each merchant decides which benefits to honor. Being a regular should mean something beyond one address.

  4. 04

    A city itinerary builder.

Turn a weekend or a neighborhood into something you can actually book: coffee, meals, drinks, in order. Let the people who know the neighborhood publish the route and get paid when someone follows it.

  5. 05

An operating system for restaurant events.

Wine dinners, classes, collaborations: they all need ticketing, invitations, member access, and a way to split the payout. Track who actually showed up so the restaurant knows who to invite back next time.

  6. 06

A live market for restaurant offers.

A restaurant publishes an offer once, and approved apps bring it to the right audience instead of everybody. Track which app actually drove the visit or the payment, and pay out based on demand that was real, not demand that was claimed.

  7. 07

    House accounts for regulars.

Let a guest prepay a balance with a restaurant or a group, and let the operator decide what that buys: rewards, special access, a monthly tab. That's how you make repeat visits easy and keep the regulars who keep the lights on.

  8. 08

One order-ahead account for independent restaurants.

Give diners one identity, one payment method, one rewards balance. The restaurant keeps its own brand and its own relationship with the customer. Start with reliable pickup at a handful of neighborhood restaurants that actually deserve it.

  9. 09

A creator market that drives measurable restaurant visits.

Let restaurants fund campaigns, pick their own creators, and pay out in FLY. Measure actual visits and actual payments, not likes, with a clear brief and an honest report of what the campaign delivered.

  10. 10

    A restaurant crawl toolkit.

Run a multi-stop food and drink crawl with timed entry and check-ins at each place. Reward people for finishing it, and split the payout automatically between the restaurants that took part.

Restaurant lovers unite!

Start smaller than the vision

Build something ten restaurants love. Use identity to make it personal, payments to finish the job and rewards to bring people back. Give restaurants new demand, stronger relationships or more control. If you are building one of these, I want to see it.

A merchant network, accelerated by the internet

Flynet connects businesses, customers, and developers through one open network for payments, rewards, and new experiences.
